Description

The PADCV-PTA is a strategic project designed to operate the structural transformation of the agricultural sector in the DRC. It aims to directly address the DRC government's objective of "reclaiming the soil from the subsoil" by focusing on improving the productivity and competitiveness of priority value chains (rice, maize, cassava, etc.). Its intervention strategy is based on an integrated approach: from replenishing seed stocks to developing resilient infrastructure, including structuring stakeholders and their financial inclusion, thus ensuring the link between production, processing, and the market.

Objectives

Increase productivity To ensure guaranteed and sustainable access to quality agricultural inputs (pre-basic and basic seeds, fertilizers) for the cassava, maize, rice, soybean and bean sectors, in order to significantly improve agricultural yields. Develop the infrastructure To create resilient hydro-agricultural developments in lowland areas, to build and rehabilitate storage, processing and road access infrastructure, facilitating the evacuation of products to markets. Structuring the actors Strengthening the organizational and management capacities of farmers' and cooperative organizations to transform them into effective economic partners, and facilitating their access to appropriate financing. Reducing food insecurity and imports To contribute to the overall objective of increasing national agricultural supply in order to reduce the incidence of food insecurity and decrease the country's dependence on food imports.
