Description

The RB-VYWOSP project aims to strengthen the resilience of out-of-school youth and vulnerable women in rural The Gambia. It combines skills-building interventions (agribusiness training workshops, agricultural value chain entrepreneurship), access to basic social services, and financial incentives to stimulate agricultural entrepreneurship and improve household incomes. In addition, social and behavioral change activities are implemented to promote gender equality, women's economic empowerment, and the sustainable use of basic services. This integrated approach aims to create sustainable economic opportunities, foster inclusion, and reduce structural fragility in the targeted communities.

Objectives

• Youth Economic Integration Train 500 young people annually in market-oriented skills for agriculture and agribusiness to facilitate their entry into the labor market. • Sectoral Financial Inclusion Deploy incentive mechanisms for agricultural loans (dedicated lines of credit, guarantees, interest subsidies) to improve access to financing for vulnerable agripreneurs. • Women's Economic Empowerment Support the creation/strengthening of 500 micro-enterprises and 50 women's cooperatives through training and access to credit. • Access to Basic Social Services Improve the availability of and access to healthcare, nutrition, and education in target areas to reduce structural vulnerability.
